Experience
After working as an RN for over 30 years, I decided that I wanted to teach ESOL and writing. For the past year, I have volunteered through the NY State Literacy Program, and teach a class of refugees from Afghanistan, as well as people from China, South Korea and Puerto Rico. I work one-on-one with students from South Korea and China, which I really enjoy because I feel that I can make a difference as they study English. One of my high school students asked for my help to prepare for the TOEFL, and she did well. Currently, I also have an English speaker student who needs help writing essays for college.
