Experience
I have been a tutor since June 2013 after serving as a registered nurse for more than 30 years. I received my certification in TESOL to work with people who wanted to learn English language skills. I particularly enjoy teaching people from other parts of the world because they show tremendous enthusiasm and dedication to learning and improving their English writing and speaking skills. I have published some of my own writing and have served as an editor for other writers. I have worked with both native and non-native English speakers on their writing skills, including college personal statements, essays, and emails and letters for work purposes.I spent 10 years of my life living in Mexico, and learned Spanish while I was living there. Having been in the situation myself, I can certainly appreciate what it's like to have to learn not only a new language, but a whole new culture. I have worked with students of all ages, some as young as 8 and others as old as 70, and have taught in both classroom and one-on-one settings. The most important and rewarding part about the tutoring process is focusing on the needs of the people I'm working with and being flexible in order to meet their goals.In my free time, I enjoy kayaking, bike riding, yoga, swimming, painting, and writing. I am the proud mother of two children and have six grandchildren.
